Empirical Devices is an amplifier and effects builder and musical equipment restoration shop in Kansas City.

Empirical Devices was founded on the idea that musical gear should be useful, reliable, and resourceful. We understand the importance of being able to record and perform music without worry that your equipment will sound bad or fail. That is why we strive to ensure that the musical equipment we service sound their best and the devices we create are of the highest quality—always.

Our workshop provides the finest repair, restoration, and maintenance services for vintage and modern guitar and bass amplifiers and effects pedals. When it comes to repairs, we don’t believe in quick fixes that get you by until your gear fails again. Rather, we aim to uncover and resolve the root of the problem not just the failure. Every piece of equipment that comes into our shop undergoes a thorough diagnostic inspection, receives a detailed service/repair estimate that outlines the issue(s) discovered during the inspection, the procedure and parts needed to correct the issue(s), and an accurate cost estimate for the entire service/repair. 

At Empirical Devices, we understand the need to have a repair shop and a builder that you can trust. We also appreciate the importance of entrusting your gear with people who not only know how your equipment should function but also how healthy amps and pedals should sound!
