Services

Amplifiers

Our workshop provides repair, restoration, and maintenance services for vintage and modern guitar and bass amplifiers.

  • A non-refundable $85 minimum bench fee is collected at the time any amplifier is dropped off for servicing, repairs, and/or mods. This fee covers diagnostics (visual exam, circuit test, tube testing, etc.) and is thus applied to the first hour of labor. Often a simple problem can be fixed during diagnostics. If that is the case, then the $85 bench fee will cover the cost of the simple repair. If the problem(s) is more complicated and will cost more than $85 to repair, then we will contact you with a service/repair estimate. Each estimate outlines the issue(s) discovered during the diagnostic inspection, the procedure and parts needed to correct the issue(s), and a cost estimate for the entire service/repair. If you decline to move forward with the service/repair estimate, then the $85 minimum bench fee will be retained to cover the cost of diagnostics.

Labor after the first hour is billed in 15-minute increments at a rate of $100 per hour, plus the cost of parts. Parts and labor will be paid at time of pick up.

All amplifier servicing, repairs, and/or mods that request an immediate turnaround for completion of service/repairs require a $100 Bench Fee and are billed at an Hourly Labor Rate of $150 per hour (plus parts). After the first hour, labor time is billed in 15-minute increments. Like all service/repairs, the turnaround time for expedited service/repairs is subject to component and part availability. All other shop policies remain the same for expedited service/repairs.

Please see our Policies and FAQ pages for further information on service/repairs and policies.

Occasionally, the process of repair itself can uncover larger issues that were not part of the initial repair estimate. This is often the case with vintage amps. If this occurs, we will contact you to discuss the issue and provide a new repair estimate (if needed).

The Hourly Labor Rate for amplifier service, repairs, and mods does NOT include the cost of parts. The cost of replacement parts will be outlined in the estimate and added to the final invoice. If parts must be ordered to complete the service/repair, then we will do our best to give you an estimated timeframe for the arrival and installation of those parts. Service/repairs with parts totaling more than $149.99 will require the parts be paid in full, including any shipping charges.
